Position Overview
We are seeking a Building Materials Lab Technologist to support the development and optimization of advanced composite materials for the building industry. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals eager to work in a dynamic, research-focused environment and contribute directly to next-generation sustainable building products.
As a key member of our R&D team, you’ll collaborate with experienced professionals, gain hands-on lab experience, and play an essential role in shaping the future of our materials technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory testing and analysis of composite materials used in building products.
- Implement and refine experimental methods to evaluate and optimize material performance.
- Prepare test samples, operate and maintain lab equipment, and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Accurately document procedures, analyze data, and present results in reports or presentations.
- Support the development of new materials, processes, and technical innovations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product improvements and R&D goals.
- Prioritize safety in all experimental work and processes.
- Manage multiple tasks independently and meet project timelines.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma, BSc or BASc in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical & Environmental Technology, or a related discipline
- Experience with lab testing of materials such as wood, plastics, or cement is an asset
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with lab equipment and tools
- Strong skills in test setup, execution, and technical documentation
- Familiarity with testing methods to evaluate physical and chemical material properties
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform hands-on technical tasks
- High attention to detail with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement
